Download"HKIP 30" (2009, dir. Snoblind) (Track 01 to 07) Last time we released a digi-EP of songs for an imaginary movie. Over the course of 2009, we were commissoned by a professional institute to create a numer of web shorts to commemorate their 30th Anniversary. Ostensibly, these shorts are just fancy highlight reels for whatever footages thrown our way regaring different activities/events. However, we were given Carte Blanche to do whatever we want. And we did what we know: motion graphics-laden montages with electronic/hiphop beats beneath a dash of post-rock as musical backdrop. Here are the music tracks, including one outtakes for your aural pleasure. Please check out "Sharing Session" as our good friend/turntablist extrodinaire DJ Kenny record, cut-up and skratch his voice over a brooding beat. "Help..." (2009, dir. Leung Man-ki, Flora) (Track 08 : "The Siu-man Suite) In mid 2009 we received an invitation from Hong Kong-based animator/director Flora Leung to provide the musical score, after she listened to "Silent Frustration" (downloadable here) which we released in 2008. Based on a Hong Kong-produced animation anthology for the "Hong Kong History of Comics Exhibition", the story was a part-psychoogical horror, part paranormal thriller against a Secondary School setting. Think Jacob's Ladder meets McDull. The biggest challenge we faced regarding "Help..." was that we never scored visuals made by an outside party. For the first time, we have to adapt to other filmmaker's rhythm and vision. Luckily once we decided upon the overall tone of the score (which we jokingly quipped "Danny Elfman meets Bernard Hermann"), everything came into place almost automatically. "The Harinezumi Dub" (2009, dir. Snoblind) (Track 09) We love our Harinezumi Digital camera. A small wonder with massive output. We shot our usual cityscape with a 16mm flair, our heads was ringing the kind of floating dub that would go along well with the visuals, and here it is: The Harinezomi Dub for our camera test. DownloadBefore myspace, there was soundclick. Back when Snoblind was starting out there were not much avenue to post the music on web. Yes, we could post it up on a crude angelfire account, but then again, a few hits and that's it for the day. Sony's ACIDplanet was good for a while, then it just lost its charm. Along came soundclick, and we were producing tracks like mad with our sony acid. What fond memories we had with soundclick, checking out other artists in Hong Kong (and we managed to made a few actual friends along the way, not the myspace friends kinda friends) Before it's being vanished, may we present to you "The Soundclick Files": a bunch of tracks we made with Sony Acid, slight before we port ourselves over to Ableton Live.-

City Magazine, May 2002DJing @ LCX 2002Snoblind started a weekly residency as in-store DJ at Lcx, an upscale fashion retailer in Hong Kong. During this period, Snoblind spined a variety of music, from minimalistic techno to downtempo hiphop, from red hot gritty funk to futuristic jazz breaks. Snoblind also used a range of media to DJ'ing, from vinyl to CD to laptop computer using DJ'ing software to real time loop manipulation software.Radio Programme on RTHK, Hong Kong 2002A taste of Electric Miles: as part of the "Jazz-up" serial radio programme on Radio and Television Hong Kong Station, Snoblind hosted an one-hour programme about the electric period of Miles Davis. As part of the programme, Snoblind prepared a studio mixtape comprised of Miles Davis' during his electric period. A loving tribute to the legacy of Miles Davis, the mix was praised for its interesting augmentation between Davis' whimsical moments and furious funk.Continued... DJing @ LCX 2003Snoblind continued its DJ'ing residency. But 2003 saw them taking on a more refined direction: gone were the all-over-the-place musical styling, in comes a themed selection of tunes: alternating each week Snoblind bought to customers with a fine selection of deep funk, funky soul jazz, obscure but funky film/TV background "library" music, and futuristic breakbeats.First "Performance" @ Tom Lee Music Carnival 2004Snoblind performed as part of the "Tom Lee Music Carnival" in Hong Kong. A weekend outdoor event, the performed was titled "DIGITAL RENDEZVOUS: A mini odyssey of dub funk and hiphop". Adopting a matured, "performance-based" approach, Snoblind infused their DJ'ing sensibilities together with their skillful producer for an unique live experience. Whereas most band participating in the event was using the same-old-same-old guitar-drum-bass configuration, Snoblind utilised their notebook computers to offer a wide variety in their sonic palate.Music x Fashion - Collaboration with Double Brother 2004Redline Overdrive - as part of the launch of the highend "redline" denim line from renowned street fashion label DOUBLEDOG, Snoblind put together an exclusive mix of 90s hiphop track. With sophisticated selection of tunes combined with lethal mixing skills, the mixtape was a favourite amongst local hiphop aficiandos.Fund Raising Event 2004Songs in the Key of Life - At the end of 2004, Snoblind organised a fund raiser for a friend who unfortunately suffered from cancer. In their bid to help raise medical expenses, Snoblind created a limited edition of T-shirt/CD package sold to the public of Hong Kong. The CD, titled "Songs in the Key of Life" was a collection of heart-warming instrumental down tempo hiphop, which received excellent reviews from street fashion magazines such as "Milk" and "New Monday".Snoblind's Performances in Taiwan 2005The year Snoblind made contact.
Snoblind performed in the infamous "Spring Scream festival" in Kenting Taiwan in April. As one of a handful of Hong Kong bands being selected, Snoblind delivered a blistering live set, breaking down barriers and redefining live performance by fusing computer music programming, live instrumentation and video jockeying in bringing an unforgettable audio-visual extravaganza.
Snoblind also received a number of press attention on the strength of their performance. In July, Snoblind performed in the largest music event of the year in Taiwan- Formoz Festival, where Snoblind met more Taiwanese fans(friends).The Year Begins in Taipei 2006
Snoblind continues to expose themselves to music lovers. The first show of Snoblind fell on 1 January 2006: Tiger Chewing Festival at The Wall, Taipei. It was a good start for the Year 2006. Then Snoblind performed in February and March in Hong Kong. In early April, Snoblind was invited to perform at Spring Scream Festival iwhich was held in Kenting, Taiwan again.
Snoblind wish that they can gain more local and global fans by releasing their new album Musica Di Digitalia in May 2006. This album demonstrates the feasibility of making (touching/melodic/atmospheric) music in various genres with two laptop computers plus some essential hardware and software.
In May 2006, Snoblind was interviewed by Smartone Vodafone in Hong Kong and the interview and live video was available at Music Channel of the 3G network of Smartone Vodafone in June 2006.
In early July 2006, Snoblind was invited to Metro Broadcast, a radio station in Hong Kong, for a live interview.
Snoblind performed at Formoz Festival in Taiwan in late July 2006 and Mind Your Head Rock Area in Hong Kong in August 2006. In October 2006, Snoblind played at Kaohsiung, Taiwan, for the first time (Megaport Festival). In November, Snoblind played at Underground 34 in Hong Kong.Visiting Seoul, South Korea in 2007Snoblind had the first show, HK Live!, at Fringe Club in early January 2007. Snoblind hit Taiwan in April for Spring Scream Festival and other several gigs there. We were invited to represent Hong Kong to perform at Seoul Fringe Festival in August and we had a great time there! In November, we played at HK Live! again! In December, we played at a CD launch party for Empti in Hong Kong.
People in Australia also noticed about Snoblind and we were glad that an Australian artist Robert Iollini has chosen our music for his audio play "Agent HK" which was broadcasted in a national radio station in Australia in October 2007.2008 and beyondThe good year started with Clockenflap Multimedia Arts and Music Festival in Hong Kong which was a great success! We had also played in several gigs and met some cool people for possible future collaborations. We are also working on some exciting projects and we will let you know when we have more information!
